Pacaya Volcano from Antigua Guatemala

The Pacaya Volcano Tour :

Guatemala Country is very famous for its volcanoes and rocky formations. A large history of volcanic activity has been filed since the spanish people came to this territory and settled.

The Pacaya Volcano is very interesting due to its major activity and constant lava flowing. Visitors have the chance to climb the volcano at their own risk. It is an adventurous and dangerous experience. It is recommended by the National Park, that visitors can be from 18 years old to 50 in a good physical condition. The hike can be a little tiring because it is accross the forest that surrounds the craters and the slope is a little steep in some parts.

It is said that a seismic governmental station is located near the crater to evaluate the condition of the Pacaya Volcano and give or cancel the permits to climb it. Usually the volcano visitors get to a point where you can see the black volcanic sand and feel the volcanic
warm winds. Climbing further is again at own risk if you want to continue.

At the top of the volcano the weather can be a litte windy. Sulfur smell can be a little strong for some people and the rocks are very, very sharp. Some accidents have been seen of visitors harming their legs and ankles because of these sharp rocks and hot lava. It is recommended to hike with tight shoes and clothing that protects you from falling.

The Pacaya Volcano is about one hour from Antigua Guatemala Colonial Town and the hike is of about 3 hours (if you are in good physical conditions). EXTREME CAUTION is recommended if visiting Pacaya Volcano. Nature can be very unpredictable.
